Matchday 1 Review
Very happy with how matchday 1 went – 85 points is a very solid return and a great way to kick off the campaign.
I got my defence spot-on: Kepa fortunately clutched up with a clean sheet after Blaswich bottled it. Raum got a nice assist, a decent 6 pointer. My Barca double up on Kounde and Cancelo worked a treat with a massive 5-0 win.
Midfield was fine, Xavi Simons so unlucky to not get a return. His points came from earning himself POTM. My only blank was Thuram: he didn’t start but managed to get a disallowed goal when he came on. Felt hard done by. Bellingham took his time but came up big in the last minute and Saka did very well vs PSV.
My three big guns upfront all did the business and chipped in with points. Was disappointed to not get more out of Lewy and Haaland but can’t get too greedy – a return is a return.
Matchday 2 Limitless team selection
GK
David Raya 5 million
I needed to get some form of Arsenal defensive cover to complete the triple up. Raya Arsenal’s new number one has kept three clean sheets in four games. I’ve opted to go for him over a defender because Arsenal defence lack the explosive attacking potential I am looking for in my defenders.
Jan Oblak 6 million
The fixtures tomorrow are horrendous in terms of keeper options, I’ve gone for Oblak hoping I won’t have to use him and that Raya gets the job done tonight. I’m very confident Man City and Barca won’t keep a clean sheet so Oblak is the best bet.
Defenders
Alphonso Davies 6 million
Three assists in his first six games, his attacking potential is through the roof. Despite Bayern looking vulnerable at the back this season, Copenhagen is too good a fixture to miss out on. Need the Davies and Kane connection to make a return tonight! Kim Min Jae is also a top pick.
Robin Gosens 5 million
A fun pick and a blast from the past, always a good asset on fantasy games. Three goals in six games from LWB is super impressive. Absolutely no confidence in Union Berlin keeping a clean sheet considering they have lost five games in a row. Why not!
Denzel Dumfries 5.5 million
A Inter wing back is essential this matchday. I’ve gone for Dumfries over Dimarco because he is less of a rotation risk with Augusto challenging Dimarco. Dumfries has been on fire for club and country, two goals and two assists in just six games for Inter so far this season. He just loves hauling.
Nahuel Molina 6 million
Plays RWB for Athletico and has two goals in five games so far this season. I don’t really want to use him as I have a feeling Feyenoord will score, but he always puts up good attacking data, so a return would be lovely. Gone for him over Cancelo, tough call.
Achraf Hakimi 6 million
Couldn’t go without him, attacking data in his new RWB role is outrageous and scored in matchday 1. Three goals and an assist so far this season. A clean sheet would be nice but very unlikely.
Midfielders
Bukayo Saka Arsenal 9.5 million
Very big doubt tonight having just recovered from injury to feature against Bournemouth at the weekend; a 50/50 call between him and Trossard who is also a doubt.
If he is fit, then great! Almost a guaranteed return with four goals and two assists in the prem so far this season.
Martin Odegaard 9 million
An Arsenal midfield double up makes a lot of sense this week, the Arsenal skipper is in superb form and on all set pieces, potentially pens.
15 pointer in matchday 1, goal and assist at the weekend against Bournemouth. Assume he will be in everyone’s team up against a poor Lens team.
Jude Bellingham Real Madrid 7.5 million
With his ownership, it’s very hard to go out with the best player in the world at the moment. Six goals and two assists in his first seven games is a joke. He’s thriving in that CAM role. I don’t like the fixture against Napoli, but Jude has proven time and time again he is a big game player.
Leroy Sane 9 million
The first name on my team sheet, Sane has been devastating for Bayern so far this season with five goals in six games and three goals in consecutive games. He always cooks on UCL fantasy so is a no-brainer of a pick, who will be in my team for a long time.
Bruno Fernandes 9.5 million
I don’t know why I’m going with Bruno. He has been the most frustrating asset to own in FPL returning in just 2 games. However, his data is always expectational and why not frustrate me one more time!
Strikers
Harry Kane 10 million
One of the few players to retain his place, you know what you will get with Kane – guaranteed goals. Eight goals and four assists so far this season is silly. He’s getting a lot of penalties, so that’s another route to points. Copenhagen is a great fixture.
Lautaro Martinez 9 million
Four goals off the bench in 30 minutes, welcome to the team Lautaro! Nine goals in seven games, he is in the form of his life. He returned in matchday 1 vs Sociedad. A nice fixture at home for Benfica whom he has previously scored against.
Erling Haaland 11.5 million
He scored five goals in one game against Leipzig last season, so I don’t really want to risk going without him. Leipzig have improved, but still look vulnerable defensively. City need a reaction following an extremely rare back-to-back defeats. Erling will be back in the goals as always.
