Gameweek 5 review
Gameweek 5 was my worst week so far and horrific from start to finish. The risk I took going Matty Cash over a Newcastle defender didn’t pay off as I racked up a horrific score of just 30.
I’m quickly losing patience in the United attackers, both Bruno and Rashford have been terrible picks and value for money so far contributing with 3 points combined.
Was banking on Madders to haul but a rare blank against Sheffield United tells you everything you need to know about how this gameweek went. Lost my head when Chelsea kept a clean sheet and Chilly was benched!
Team Selection
My team is set up nicely for this week and I’m fully anticipating a big score to get me back on track after the horror show last week. I’m confident that the two transfers I’ve made will be succesful.
In goal both keepers have tough fixtures and very little chance of either picking up an extremely rare clean sheet. Pickford vs Brentford the better fixture but Everton will certainly concede.
Defence looks shaky. Estu and Botman both have great fixtures and shout get me returns. Cash vs Udogie was a tough call. Villa have been poor so far defensively but they are up against a poor Chelsea attack. Cash also has great attacking potential. Udogie could do well against Arsenal but the only possibility for points is an attacking return. Cash edges it.
Midfield looks nice, relying heavily on Mbeumo continuing his great form with a couple of goals against Everton. Something from the United boys would be nice, I’m growing frustrated with both, blanks from either could seal their fate. Arsenal and Spurs both attacking teams good points potential for Saka and Madders.
Attack is looking insane. Both Haaland and Alvarez will go huge against Forest. A Haaland hat-rick and a couple of assists from Alvarez will go down a treat.
Transfers
Chilwell > Botman
After Chilly’s surprise benching vs Bournemouth and no guarantees of him coming back in this week he simply had to go. I foolishly put off bringing in a Newcastle defender last week, I’m not making that mistake again. Trips is too expensive for my liking and rules out any plans to get in Salah. Botman is a bargain at 4.6 million and gives me more flexibility for future transfers,
Jackson > Alvarez
I’m getting rid of all my Chelsea assets this week. Jackson is a Nunez region, racks up crazy high XG week in week out but can’t finish his dinner. Alvarez has been incredible in his new number 10 role with lots of goals and assists. At his price I feel he is essential, had made a mockery of his price tag so far.
