Game week 5 howler
Game week 5 was a nightmare of a game week and one to forget as I racked up just 39 points, a season’s low. It didn’t help that on the Thursday evening, I made the pre-deadline day transfer to bring in Luis Sinisterra. Then inevitably Sinisterra gets his move to Bournemouth on loan during a chaotic deadline day and leaves my team in a rough place! I’m still somehow in the top 1k.
Team selection
Starting with GK, easy choice to go for Hladky over Dieng. I’m not convinced either of my keepers will pick up a clean sheet this week but considering Boro’s shocking form and the amount of goal they are shipping, I simply have to go for my boy Hladky who has been a steal at just 4 million so far.
Moving on to the defence, I’m captaining Davis this week – maybe my Ipswich bias is getting the better of me. Averaging over five chances created each game, I have a good feeling that he is due to be back in the assists this week. Mumba is an easy start every game week as he continues to make a mockery of his price tag. I’m very close to selling Manning and will likely next week, Southampton are shocking at the back and he simply isn’t worth his premium £8 million price tag.
The midfield is a mess. I’m going to have to use my transfer to get rid of Sinisterra this week for the second and last time this season. A good chance that Vidigal misses out yet again, but I’m going to start him just in case. Dewsbury Hall and Sara really need to both get returns.
Striker is easily the position I am most confident in and feel is best set up within the team. Piroe has been a big flop for me so far with multiple failed captain attempts. I can’t justify getting rid of him with how exciting that Leeds attack looks and his previous championship goal-scoring heroics. Armstrong has been a cracking pick so far, consistently chipping in with points and justifying his premium price tag. Chaplin didn’t return in either game against Sheffield Wednesday last season, but he always has goals in him!
Looking at the subs, they are a bit of a mess. Key is playing for a poor Swansea side and has been useless so far. Slater has been on the bench every week and will get upgraded to first bench. Kakay is useful squad cheap filler who does play but I’m not starting him vs a tough Sunderland side.
Transfer plans
Sinisterra > Summerville
So as previously mentioned Sinisterra is going this week. The obvious choice is to get Rowe, but being an Ipswich fan it was hard enough to get Sara in yet alone doubling up on Norwich so I’ll continue to avoid him!
I was tempted to bring Jack Clarke back in, but have made the decision to go from one Leeds attacker to another. This time I’m bringing one in that is here to stay! Summerville’s data in both the games he has played so far is excellent with over 0.5 for both expected goals and assists. which is impossible to ignore. A Leeds attacking double-up with Summerville and Piroe will be fun!
